This two-day course is intended to assist managers whose work experience is not in
the financial field to understand and use financial reports when making financial
decisions. It serves as an introduction to financial statement analysis. Concepts
and terminologies found in published financial statements of companies will be clarified
and explained. Participants will also be equipped with financial decision-making tools
to analyse a company’s profitability, liquidity, and solvency.
This course builds on the skills obtained in the Orientation to Financial Management
Programme. It is designed to provide non-financial middle and senior managers with
advanced knowledge, understanding and skills of capital budgeting, financial statement
analysis, cash flow analysis and the valuation of companies.
The purpose of this course is to inform future financial (or business) analysts, general
(or portfolio) managers, consultants, and advisors of the psychological processes
and biases underlying the decisions made by customers, competitors, colleagues, and
themselves, with an emphasis on how to incorporate such insights into marketing and
business strategies.
The course focuses on the analysis and interpretation of corporate financial statements
and explains how competitive forces and business strategies affect firms’ financial
statements. The course also provides the participants with the knowledge and ability
to identify how and when firms are managing earnings and manipulating other items
in financial statements. Additionally, the course examines advanced techniques for
evaluating the financial stability of a company through its financial statements,
and how the financial statements may be used for strategic planning, forecasting and
decision making
This course examines the strategic considerations associated with mergers and acquisitions,
in a friendly or hostile environment. Special topics include leveraged buyout transactions
and post-merger integration.
Through real-world case studies and interactions with leading industry experts, participants
will gain deep insights to diverse perspectives and approaches in business valuation.
